It looks like a Sherry Mendoza friend fest to me.
ReplyDeleteLoads of names I don't know. Cool! I might actually buy the mag and check them out. Oh that's right, every aus mag I have bought in the last 12 months has disappointed me. Why would they have picked differently?
ReplyDeleteOHW - K.g its just eye blinding.
ReplyDeleteDid notice quite a lot of doubling up in the H.Ms as well.
funny I think one of the unwritten rules of the masters this year was to nausiatingly use the same product over and over on each of your items so they all look matching.... zzzzzzzzz
ReplyDeleteBuzz & Bloom have shut down
ReplyDeletehttp://www.buzzandbloom.com.au/
Hmm, that didn't take long - what were they around for - 2 - 3 years?
ReplyDeleteIs there another scrap blog, now that this one has died?
ReplyDeleteI go here mostly:

I don't know if another Aus one exists, not really that much to smack in Aus anymore
Hey, so in the interest of making this not so dead, here I am.
ReplyDeleteSmack stuff in aus?
How about the half added pages and projects that the women in control of our mags make? Seriously, have you guys seen the complete lack of talent in there? Sherry Mendoza is too busy pimping for the DTs she's on to make stuff that looks good, and that woman who used to run the submissions was just bloody awful. And the so called Aussie reader gallery in CK? Same people every damn month, and only half the pages are decent.
Aussie scraplebrities (borrowing from Scrap Smacker) well, the ones who get paid to teach or even travel to teach just seem overrated. Jill geraghty groves still teaches, although why anyone would pay given the god-awful ghoulish 'art' she makes, is beyond me. She's not a scrapper anymore IMHO.
C'mon guys let's kickstart this thing again! The Americans aren't going to let us get away with bringing Aussie smack to their blog!
I'm usually at the Smack Centre blog too, lots to read lately LOL.
ReplyDeleteThe CK think does annoy me but I heard (reliably) that they just don't get the submissions that the other mags do. I think a lot of Aussie scrappers don't get CK so they don't think to sub there. So ladies if you want to get pubbed, sub them to CK!
Scrap celebs? They seem to have died out a bit here I reckon. I am glad that the latest Masters has a mix of known names and new ones. Not that I love all of their stuff etc but at least we are getting some fresh faces. I am rapt that Melinda Spinks is on the SM CT as she does very unique work and it is do-able. Some of the ones in the past I would be thinking "what the?".
I don't really know Sherry or her work but I give her kudos for organising the floods auction fundraiser. They have raised over $5000 already with lots more auctions to come.
I got this months SM during the week and I thought it was an OK issue. I haven't read it properly yet but at first glance I didn't mind it.
Yeah, I do give credit for the flood fundraiser :-)
ReplyDeleteHow about the constant product sneeze pages published in sbm? Gimme some simple!
ReplyDeleteThe Ck Ausie gallery gives me the shits. I get that we all have a different style but most of it looks like someone dropped a tube of paint and some random embellishments on some paper, and the same faces all the time is a little tiresome.
