Sherry Mendoza, Technical Editor of Scrapbooking Memories, is on the Tattered Angels and the Helmar manufacturer DT's. I consider this to be a conflict of interest. Your thoughts?
Ok, if you were, say, starting a new sketch blog and had, say, 80 odd entries, most of a pretty good quality, and you wanted to encourage lots of people to enter, would it be wise to select a current sbm master as your winner? Yeah, I thought not. Nice work get picky, nice work...
I think poster # one has it 100% correct. Its not what you know but whose butt you kiss. I think we could all be on dt's if we had the ability to go to the US and schmooze with the companies. Guess it leaves me with little respect for tattered angels for sure!
Another topic to ponder on is kit sites selling handstamped images in their kits. Isn't that copyright infringment? I've seen two in the past few days.
I think it depends on the angel policy of the company, some of them you can use the image with no issues other companies have a limit on how many times you can use the image on items for sale some you can't sell anything with the image etc.
I think you would find that most angel policies say that you can sell handmade, handstamped items, sometimes in an unlimited number and sometimes there are limits. I don't think they say that you can sell handstamped images ready for colouring and using on your own handmade items.
Magazines, I have just started buying them again after a few years of not and I am really disappointed with the content of all three that I have bought, for the record I have bought Creating Keepsakes, Scrapbooking Memories and Scrapbook Creations. When I used to buy the mags I would pour over them and devour every single layout now I just seem to have a flip through and move on, do you think that we are now over saturated with products and ideas or are the magazines just not delivering?
I'm completely over Australian scrap mags, hate the layouts and the design of the mags themselves seems very amateurish, and some really crap layouts get in on a regular basis. Used to find CK to be much better, but lately I haven't even been liking their stuff. Now Scrapbook Trends, that's a mag worth the money. Expensive, yes, but little advertising, and great design.
Not sure it's a conflict of interest but more of a its not what you know but who you know.
ReplyDeleteCant say I find it a conflict of interest, they are not rival magazines are they???
ReplyDeleteI don't really think it is a conflict. It does make me a little uncomfortable for some reason but I'm not getting my knickers in a twist about it LOL.
